Within the immediate Stream Estate Cottage environs there are a number of world famous wineries including: Cloudy Bay, Domaine Georges Michel and Hunters, providing: wine tasting, wine purchasing and dining.

For the visitor who appreciates fine artworks there are two local galleries, both within close proximity to the Blenheim township: the Millennium Public Art Gallery and the Marlborough Gallery.

15 minutes from the Stream Estate Cottage is the magnificent Marlborough Sounds -popular with visitors who enjoy leisure craft, boating, fishing and diving. Also, for those who seek natural bush and bird life settings there is the well known Queen Charlotte Walking Track A number of different walks are available to suit individual fitness levels and timeframes.

Havelock, a nearby rural and sheltered sea township is famous as the "Greenshell mussel capital of the world" and a stop to the Mussel Boys Seafood restaurant is the place to taste these delicacies. The township also boasts an art-craft trail where you can find pottery and hand crafted goods.

Whale watching and swimming with dolphins and seals is a "must do" activity if driving along the Kaikoura coast.
