15 minutes from the Stream Estate Cottage is the magnificent Marlborough Sounds -popular with visitors who enjoy leisure craft, boating, fishing and diving. Also, for those who seek natural bush and bird life settings there is the well known Queen Charlotte Walking Track A number of different walks are available to suit individual fitness levels and timeframes.

The township also boasts an art-craft trail where you can find pottery and hand crafted goods.

Whale watching and swimming with dolphins and seals is a "must do" activity if driving along the Kaikoura coast.
